Mumbai: The Mumbai Crime Branch has made a significant revelation in the chargesheet filed before the special MCOCA court regarding the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. As per the chargesheet, a key eyewitness identified the three shooters responsible for the assassination.

Following the arrest of the accused, the Crime Branch conducted an identification parade where the key witness identified Shiv Kumar Gautam, Gurmel Singh and Dharmaraj Kashyap as the assailants. This identification serves as pivotal evidence directly linking the trio to Siddique’s murder.

The Crime Branch has included detailed records of the identification parade along with the eyewitness's statement in the chargesheet, marking them as critical components of the case

Following the identification and the critical role of the eyewitness, police have provided one police personnel for 12 hours as security to the key witness after he has received two death threat calls.

After the murder, one of the key eye-witnesses in the murder case was threatened by an unknown caller who demanded Rs5 crore from the person. He subsequently registered a complaint at Khar Police Station, which is currently investigating the threats. But, police were unable to trace out contact numbers, which were used for threats. Authorities suspect the involvement of the Bishnoi gang in issuing the threats and the extortion demand, though investigations are ongoing.

This breakthrough further strengthens the case against the accused, ensuring their direct connection to the high-profile murder, while police continue efforts to secure all witnesses involved.

Meanwhile, Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader, was shot dead on October 12 by three assailants near the office of his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique, in the Nirmal Nagar area of Mumbai.

Meanwhile, NCP leader and Baba Siddique's son Zeeshan Siddique on Thursday met Joint CP Mumbai Police Gautam Lakhmi regarding the chargesheet filed in his father's murder case.

Siddique said police denied providing a chargesheet, prompting an appeal to the court. He met Gautam Lakhmi, seeking an update on the complaint; claiming suspected individuals haven't been interrogated yet.
