Mumbai: In the Baba Siddique murder case, two arrested accused, on Monday, retracted their confessional statements allegedly recorded by the Mumbai police. The accused have been booked under the stringent provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Claim Made By The Two Arrested Accused
In the plea, lawyer Siddharth Agarwal for Gurmail Singh and Harishkumar Kashyap, claimed that their statements are not voluntary. “The investigation authority has no evidence and recorded the confession to implicate the accused in this false case,” Agarwal claimed.

The court has now asked the prosecution to file a reply. Meanwhile, the Mumbai crime branch has uncovered the location where absconding accused Shubham Lonkar practiced firing with an advanced AK-57 rifle allegedly sourced from Naxalites. Lonkar conducted shooting drills in a remote mining and hilly area near Champatoli village, in Jharkhand’s Gumla district, officials said.
The authorities also suspect that Lonkar may be hiding in the Naxal-dominated regions near Champatoli, which is surrounded by dense forests and hills. Crime branch officials are collaborating with the Jharkhand police and preparing to visit the area for further investigations into the suspected Naxal hideout and arms supply chain.
