Attention Mumbaikars! New traffic 'no-entry spots' in city for Ekadashi festival

The festival of Ashadhi Ekadashi holds special significance to Lord Vishnu. Several marches, also known as yatra, take place from various locations in Maharashtra to Vithoba or Vitthal Temple.

The Mumbai Traffic Police on Friday issued a notification stating new traffic directives, in view of Aashadhi Ekadashi which will be celebrated on July 10.

During this occasion, a yatra or religious procession is expected where a large number of devotees will gather in the vicinity of Vitthal Mandir, Wadala. “This will cause huge traffic congestion on the roads leading towards the Vitthal Mandir. Hence, to streamline, traffic arrangements are being made,” stated the notification. As per the officials, these directives will prevent danger, obstruction, and inconvenience to the public.

These traffic regulations will be effective from July 9 till July 11, 8 am. A ‘no-entry’ will be planted at Dadar T.T to Tilak Road and the junction of Katrak road. This traffic will be diverted to Dr B. A road (northbound via Ruia junction). Similarly, roads including Mancherji Joshi and Jam-e-Jamshedji road and the junction of those roads till Five Garden and Tilak Road will be a ‘no-entry’.

The other ‘no-entry’ points are Katrak road to Devid Baretto circle and Junction of G.D Ambedkar marg and Tilak Road (north to south). Tilak road extension from Sahkar Nagar Galli towards Katrak road (east to west), Parsee Colony Road no. 13 and 14, and Junction of Lady Jahangir Road too will be a 'do not enter' zone. The last area will be Dinshaw road and the junction of Mancherji Joshi marg and Katrak road.
