Andheri Fire Incident: 1 Dead, 2 Critical After Mahanagar Gas Pipeline Leakage; FIR Filed Against Contractor; VIDEO

Out of the three people who sustained severe burn injuries after a massive fire erupted due to leakage in a Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) pipeline in Andheri East, one victim succumbed to his injuries on Monday. The two bike riders who sustained almost 50% burns to their bodies, Aman Harishankar Saroj (22) and Arvindkumar Kaithal (21) were shifted to Airoli Burns Hospital.

Mumbai: Out of the three people who sustained severe burn injuries after a massive fire erupted due to leakage in a Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) pipeline in Andheri East, one victim succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

The two bike riders who sustained almost 50% burns to their bodies, Aman Harishankar Saroj (22) and Arvindkumar Kaithal (21) were shifted to Airoli Burns Hospital on Sunday from Trauma Care hospital.

However, Saroj was declared dead on Monday at 11.30 am, the BMC informed. Kaithal is under treatment at Airoli Burns Hospital, however is in critical condition. While, the third victim Suresh Kailas Gupta (52) who recieved 20% burns is under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.

Meanwhile, the MIDC police registered an FIR against a JCB operator and a road contractor for negligence, which led to a leakage of piped natural gas from the MGL pipeline running through the middle of a road in Andheri East.

The case was filed under Sections 125, 125(a), and 125(b) (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) and Section 324(3) (Mischief causing loss to the Government or Local Authority) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The incident took place on Sunday midnight when due uncontrolled road digging near Sher-E-Punjab society in Andheri East, the MGL pipeline was punctured by the JCB. The leak resulted into a massive fire eruption right in middle of the road which took drew with it two running bikes and an autorickshaw.
