Amboli Police File FIR Against 'House Arrest' Web Series Makers Over Obscene Content

The Amboli Police on Friday (May 2) registered an FIR against two individuals, along with others and the Ullu App, in connection with the web series 'House Arrest' for allegedly featuring obscene acts and language. The case has been filed against Raj Kumar Pandey, Ajaz Khan, Ullu Digital App, and other unnamed individuals. The FIR was lodged based on a complaint by Gautam Ravriya, a 40-year-old office-bearer of the Bajrang Dal.

According to the FIR, Ravriya, who serves as a regional co-organiser for the Bajrang Dal, stated that in his complaint, on April 25, his office received a complaint regarding the web series House Arrest, which allegedly features obscene acts and language that insult and defame women. He mentioned that his office received written complaints and messages objecting to the content of the series.

Ravriya further stated that the series is produced by Raj Kumar Pandey, and the host was Ajaz Khan. It was released on the Ullu App and also uploaded on platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter). He said that they contacted Ajaz Khan, but he did not provide a satisfactory response.

Ravriya added that they visited the Ullu App's office, located in Lotus Business Park in Andheri West, and submitted a letter requesting an apology and demanding the immediate stop to the release of the series.

Based on his complaint, the Amboli Police registered a case against Raj Kumar Pandey, Ajaz Khan, the Ullu App, and others on May 2. The case has been registered under Section 296 (obscene acts and songs) and Section 3(5) (general explanation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Indecent Representation of Women Act and the Information Technology Act.
