Mumbai: A 41-year-old man allegedly died by suicide at Mumbai's 5-Star Hotel in Vile Parle East on February 28. He left a message on his company's website, in which he allegedly stated that his wife and her wife's aunt (mausi) were responsible for his death. The deceased was identified as Nishant Tripathi. Nishant's mother, Neelam Chaturvedi, 64, who is a social worker, lodged a complaint with the police. On March 3, the Airport police registered an FIR against his wife, Apoorva Parik, 36, and her aunt, Prarthana Arya, 50.
On February 28, 2025, Nishant's body was found hanging in the bathroom of room number 4023 of the hotel. He was in animation and filmmaking and operated his own company.
Nishant's mother stated, "Nishant resided in Virar. He was fed up with his wife and went to Sahara Star to stay. He stayed there for three days. On February 28, he did not put the 'Do Not Disturb' board on his room’s door. Hence, when the hotel staff knocked, he did not open the door. So the staff used their key to open it. They discovered his body in the bathroom, where he had hanged himself from a hook with a rope."
As per the FIR, a suicide note was found on his mobile phone. He wrote the note on a website (https://www.gvstudios.in/i-died) (his company's website), in which he blamed his wife, Apoorva Parik, and her aunt, Prarthana Mishra, for his death. In the message, written in English, he stated, "For Apoorva, Hi babe, By the time you read this, I’ll be gone. In my last moments, I could’ve hated you for everything that happened, but I don’t. For this moment, I choose love. I loved you then. I love you now. And as I had promised, it’s not going to fade. My mother knows that, among all the other struggles I faced, you and Prarthana Mausi are also responsible for my death. So, I beg you, don’t approach her now. She’s broken enough."
She further stated, "His wife has done BBA and is working with a private company. They did not live together in his last days, but his wife contacted him frequently and troubled him a lot. He was destroyed physically, mentally, and financially."
Based on the suicide note, the deceased's mother, Neelam Chaturvedi, who resides in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, filed a complaint against Apoorva Parik and Prarthana Mishra. The police registered the case under Section 108 (Abetment of Suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police have launched an investigation into the case and are now trying to determine whether the deceased was under mental stress or had actually faced some form of torture. The postmortem examination was conducted on March 2, and the last rites were performed in Santacruz, Mumbai.
