Director Siddharth Sen, who has been an assistant director of noted films like 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!' (2008), 'Agneepath' (2012) etc., brings his first ever feature directorial titled 'Good Luck Jerry', which is a remake of the 2018 Tamil comedy-drama 'Kolamaavu Kokila' that starred Nayanthara. 'Good Luck Jerry' is an absolute fun riot.

Jaya Kumari, aka Jerry (Janhvi Kapoor), a masseur by profession, headlines her family, which comprises her mother Sharbati (Mita Vasisht) and younger sister Chaya Kumari aka Cherry, after her father expires. Sharbati gets diagnosed with the second stage of lung cancer. In order to save her mother from death, she agrees to become a drug carrier at Timmy’s (Jaswant Singh Dalal) food stall in disguise. Timmy supplies tonnes of drugs to Malik (Saurabh Sachdeva) and reaches the main goon (played by Sushant Singh). Rinku (Deepak Dobriyal) is a jobless neighbour who tries too hard to impress Jerry and believes that she will marry him one day.

Life changes upside down for everyone when one fine day, Jerry backs out to carry drugs in fear of local police. Will Jerry be able to run away from Timmy, Malik and Sushant or get trapped in her own cobweb?

Despite being a remake, Siddharth creates a whole new fresh world in his narrative. His characters are real and shelled out. Although the film deals with the similar subject of drugs in Punjab but not even for a second will you think of 'Udta Punjab', which primarily has set the benchmark for various references. Writer Pankaj Matta develops black comedy aptly throughout. The first half is engaging and funny, but soon after the second half begins, the film slightly tends to get chaotic. The climax is reminiscent of the mess in any Priyadarshan cult film.

Janhvi Kapoor, who plays Jerry, is outstanding. She is growing with each passing film. Her expressions, fears, and emotions are so convincing. It isn’t an easy role to do, but she steals the show. It seems like the actress is choosing roles wisely and has an interesting slate of films in the pipeline. Deepak adds comic relief to the film. His acting game is top-notch as usual. Mita, Sushant, Jaswant and Saurabh play their respective parts with sincerity and conviction. Actor Sahil Mehta outshines this ensemble, and his comic timing is beyond imagination.

Music by Parag Chhabra is trippy, and the Jogan song adds a lot of weightage to the climax of the film. The background score by Aman Pant is atmospheric and trancey.

'Good Luck Jerry' is the perfect weekend binge with a runtime of 119 minutes. Watch it for Janhvi’s performance and dark humour.
