Ujjain: Shanishchari Amavasya, Over 1 lakh take holy dip in Kshipra

Ujjain: Over one lakh devotees took dips at various ghats of river Kshipra on the snan parv Shanishchari Amavasya on Saturday. Devotees mainly thronged at Shani mandir Triveni ghat and performed worship of lord Shani.  Many devotees were already present in the city as panchkroshi yatra ended on Friday and devotees were making their entries in the city. After completion the yatra the devotees headed to Shani Temple till the Friday night thousands of people reached Triveni ghat and other ghats of the river Kshipra.

All the senior administrative officials inspected Triveni Ghat and other ghats to ensure proper arrangements for devotees. The fountains and barricades, drinking water facilities, public toilets and arrangements of lighting and changing rooms were checked up by the officials. Over 80 thousands devotees took their dips till early hours of morning sources said. Water showers were also arranged for the facilities of the devotees they added. Over 1L devotees had taken bath in the river by the end of the day and left their clothes, foot-wears and other old things as per religious assumptions. The administration deployed over 25 concerned officials to remove dumped shoes and clothes of the devotees. Separate entry and exit route proved beneficial for smooth mob control the sources said. Civic body officials stated that as per the instruction of municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal, civic body teams remained alert to maintain cleanliness and worked day and night till the end of the snan parv.
