Ujjain: Stressing on the need to adopt, develop and establish India’s original education system, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) general secretary Suresh Joshi Bhaiyyaji said we need a person who follows values, think towards country and should be aware of discharging duties. Bhaiyyaji was addressing a symposium- Challenges before education in present India, organised by the Malwa region unit of Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal at Sanskar Bhavan here on Thursday.

RSS Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh head Ashok Sohoney, Member of Parliament Chintamani Malviya, State Jan Abhiyan Parishad ex-vice-president Pradeep Pandey and many educationists and scholars were among those present. In his 45-minute in-depth speech, Bhaiyyaji referred to the education system which the country adopted during past 100 years. Citing few instances he said the prevailing education system though produced educated and intellectual people, but not the humble and knowledgeable beings. “Instead of allowing a person to choose subjects of his choice, efforts were made to impose streams on him and this way we confined him,” he observed.

The veteran RSS leader took strong objection on evaluating a person on the basis of how many degrees and certificates he possesses. He also said that dignity of a person cannot be assessed from how much wealth he possesses. “We have to teach the objective of education and not its importance to a person. We have to develop a system which can ensure personality development, besides providing formal education,” he concluded.

Vikram University’s School of Studies in Sociology head Dr Jyoti Upadhyaya chaired the programme. Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal national executive Aruna Saraswat introduced the guests and also shed light on various activities. Prior to it, the guests opened the symposium by lighting the traditional lamp and garlanding the portrait of Goddess Saraswati.  They also released a souvenir Kanakshringa based on the activities of International Gurukul Sammelan-2018. Dr Manu Gauraha conducted the proceedings while Dr Prerna Manana proposed a vote of thanks.
