You might have seen this plot in movies all these years but this is a true story that has unfolded. Gangasagar Yadav, a resident of Jharkhand, went missing in 1998 after leaving for Patna. His family searched for him for years but eventually lost hope. His wife, Dhanva Devi, single-handedly raised their two young children, Kamlesh and Vimlesh. However, an unexpected event at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh left the family in shock.
During the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, relatives of Gangasagar Yadav, who were attending the festival, spotted an Aghori Sadhu. Suspecting something unusual, they immediately contacted his family members in Jharkhand, claiming that the sadhu resembled Gangasagar Yadav, who had gone missing decades ago.
Family arrives at Maha Kumbh
Upon hearing the claim, Gangasagar’s wife, children, and other relatives rushed to Prayagraj to see for themselves. The family, stunned by the resemblance, insisted that the Aghori Baba was indeed Gangasagar Yadav, now living as a sadhu.
Despite the family’s confidence, the Aghori sadhu, known as Baba Rajkumar, denied any connection to Jharkhand. He insisted that he was from Varanasi and had no ties to Gangasagar Yadav or his past life.
The family, however, provided physical evidence to support their claim. They pointed out injury marks and old wounds on the Aghori Sadhu’s body, which they said matched those of Gangasagar Yadav. They also noted similarities in his eyes, facial features, and other physical attributes.

Family demands DNA test
To establish the truth, the family has now demanded a DNA test from the Mahakumbh police. They believe this is the only way to confirm the real identity of Baba Rajkumar.
While some family members have returned to Jharkhand, others have stayed back in Prayagraj to keep a close watch on Aghori Baba. They are determined to uncover the truth.
Gangasagar Yadav’s brother has made a firm statement: “If our claim is proved wrong in the DNA test, we will apologise to Baba Rajkumar with folded hands.” For now, the matter remains under discussion, with people awaiting the final test results.
