Understand How Physical Health Keeps You Healthy

It is important to understand that good health and varied life activities depend on body strength or energy. However, body structure cannot estimate physical strength. Only a doctor can determine the disease intensity and body strength to choose the treatment. Body strength is found by finding the physical work done without tiredness.

Strength or Energy

The main essence of the body's total tissue elements is strength or energy which is called 'Ojas' in Ayurveda. This strength sustains the muscles and makes them stable and strong. Ojas decides the voice quality and skin glow too. The body's external and internal parts can do their tasks due to the strength or energy produced by it.

Tejas Strength

Tejas comes from Agni Mahābūta, the element of fire. Liquified fat, or Vasā, comes from the abdominal fat accumulated during metabolism and is called Tejas. Females have it more. Thus, they have more softness, less or soft body hair, good eyesight, strong digestion, attraction, and more.

Ojas Strength

When Kapha is balanced, you develop and fortify Ojas. A drop in Kapha results in toxic waste resulting in ailments. That is why Ojas is important among all the seven Dhatus in the body. Ojas gives the body immunity and needs to be sustained. The energy from Tejas and Ojas gets divided into: Uttama (superior or of high strength), Madhyama (average or of medium strength) and Adhama (below average or of low strength).

Another classification divides energy into the following:

Sahaja Bala (Natural Energy): This superior naturally occurring energy is due to Rasa Dhātu.

Kālakrta Bala (Periodic Energy): This age-specific energy is grown during growth stages.

Yuktikrata Bala (Acquired Energy): It comes from external energy like food and exercise.

Sattva Pariksha (Psyche Examination)

Apart from the body strength, a person’s psyche or mental/mind behaviour is important. It has two types. The first is Bhīrutva or fearing nature which cannot tolerate strong and deep treatment. They need counselling and reassurance before treatment. The second, Sahisnuta or tolerant nature are not of panicking nature. Their treatment can be strong and penetrating.

Sātmaya Parikshā (Compatibility Examination)

Ayurveda considers compatibility knowledge essential for treatment and maintaining health. Thus, compatibility includes diet, drugs, conduct, time, country and other aspects and products that benefit health and maintenance. There are four types of compatibility:

Deha Sātmaya or compatibility of the body

Desa Sātmaya or compatibility to a specific area or country

Ritu Sātmaya or compatibility as per season

Roga Sātmaya or compatibility according to the season

Apart from these factors, drug dosage, nature and effect, constitution, time, location, and disease-cycle stages are also essential to picking the right drug or treatment line.

Marks of a Strong and Energetic Person

A strong and energetic person is devoid of ailments, has little or no ageing, has material and spiritual data and a well-built and powerful body. According to Ayurveda, the best body with superior strength, good build and health is one with well-constructed body structure, good bones, well-formed and stable joints, uniformly distributed muscular tissues, normal and balanced BMI and works efficiently. The other side is a person with weak mental strength who easily falls ill or contracts diseases. Such individuals can be considered weak physically and mentally despite healthy and strong outer look.

Maladies Related to Physical Strength

The signs of decreased physical power and energy include body heaviness or laxity, low energy, numbness, tiredness, sleepiness, little efficiency, lack of muscular issues and depression.
