Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his three-day visit to Gujarat, inaugurated Vantara, an extensive animal rescue, conservation, and rehabilitation centre established by Anant Ambani. The facility, located within the Reliance Jamnagar refinery complex, spans an impressive 3,000 acres and serves as a sanctuary for over 1.5 lakh rescued, endangered, and threatened animals from more than 2,000 species.

During his visit, PM Modi was seen engaging closely with various rehabilitated animals. A video, which PM Modi shared on his official You Tube handle captured moments of him feeding and playing with species such as orangutans, Asiatic lion cubs, a rare white lion cub, and a clouded leopard cub-an endangered species. His interaction highlighted the centre’s role in providing a safe haven for animals in need of care and protection.

State-of-the-Art veterinary facilities

Vantara is equipped with cutting-edge veterinary infrastructure to ensure the well-being of rescued wildlife. The Prime Minister toured the on-site wildlife hospital, which boasts advanced medical technologies including MRI, CT scans, and specialized ICUs. The facility also houses dedicated departments for Wildlife Anesthesia, Cardiology, Nephrology, Endoscopy, Dentistry, Internal Medicine, and more, making it one of the most comprehensive veterinary centres for wildlife in the country.

A step towards conservation and sustainability

Vantara’s establishment aligns with India’s broader commitment to wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability. By rescuing and rehabilitating endangered species, this initiative plays a crucial role in preserving biodiversity. PM Modi’s visit underscores the government’s support for such conservation efforts, reinforcing India’s dedication to protecting its rich and diverse wildlife.

With this launch, Vantara is set to become a global benchmark in wildlife rehabilitation, offering hope for countless animals and paving the way for a more sustainable and compassionate future.
