Significance

Rituals
The most important ritual of the day is offering a coconut to the sea. On this day, devotees, especially fishermen, dress in traditional attire and perform a puja on the beach or near a water body. After praying to Lord Varun (God of the Sea) for safety and blessings, they gently offer the coconut into the ocean. The coconut symbolises peace, prosperity, and gratitude.
