Imagine walking above a roaring waterfall on a transparent bridge, surrounded by lush greenery and rare birds. Sounds like a dream, right? Welcome to Maharashtra’s latest attraction, the Napne Glass Bridge, now open to thrill-seekers and nature lovers.

Maharashtra has unveiled its first-ever glass skywalk, and it's as breathtaking as it sounds. Suspended above the majestic Napne Waterfall in the Sindhudurg district, this glass bridge promises an unforgettable experience. The structure, made with ultra-strong transparent glass, offers a thrilling walk above gushing waters and dense Konkan forests.

Inaugurated under the Sindhuratna tourism initiative, this ₹99.63 lakh project was announced by regional minister Nitesh Rane, who also dedicated the bridge as a birthday tribute to Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.

Where is Napne waterfall located?

Nestled near Nadhavade village, Napne Waterfall is about 3 km from Vaibhavwadi railway station, making it relatively easy to access via train or road. Located in the Konkan belt, this perennial waterfall flows throughout the year, offering scenic beauty even during drier months.

What makes Napne even more special is its rich biodiversity. Surrounded by dense forest, the area is a hotspot for birdwatchers and wildlife lovers. Visitors have a good chance of spotting Malabar hornbills, along with several exotic bird species that thrive in this unspoiled natural habitat.

A closer look at the glass bridge design

The Napne Glass Bridge isn't just a marvel in concept, it's a feat of modern engineering. Designed with arch-style railings and wooden-themed stairways, the bridge is both functional and photogenic. A giant butterfly sculpture at the entrance acts as a symbolic gateway and popular selfie point, drawing attention from tourists of all ages.

Visitors can walk directly over the waterfall, peering through the transparent flooring for a truly spine-tingling view, all while surrounded by panoramic jungle vistas and cascading waters.

Best time to visit Napne Waterfall

For the most picturesque views and best weather conditions, plan your visit between September and February. During this time, the monsoon-fed waterfall is at its fullest, and the forest is buzzing with life, making it ideal for both adventure and photography.

Why Napne should be on your travel list

Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie, a casual traveler, or a birding enthusiast, Napne Glass Bridge ticks all the boxes for a unique getaway. It’s not just a skywalk, it’s a journey into Maharashtra’s lesser-known natural wonders, blending adventure with ecology.

So if you're searching for an offbeat weekend escape from Mumbai or Pune, put Napne Glass Bridge on your bucket list. It's not just a destination, it’s an experience. Don’t forget to carry binoculars and a wide-angle camera, Napne’s views and winged residents are worth capturing!
