Anything in excess is always bad for health. Salt is a good example of that. The right amount enhances the taste, while consuming in excess can harm your health. As per an ICMR-NIE report, Indians eat five per cent more salt than required. The intake suggested by WHO is less than five per cent. There is a need to know the impact of excessive salt eating and the benefits of eating the right amount, as per Ayurveda. Of course, Patanjali offers the right salt products.

Impact of Excessive Salt Consumption

Ayurveda talks about excessive salt intake bringing with it many health troubles. It includes body system imbalances due to the exacerbation of Pitta and Kapha Dosha. Major health issues include high blood pressure, which can result in heart issues, including stroke.

According to Ayurveda, consuming excessive salt can also harm your kidneys, apart from causing premature greying, hair loss, and even wrinkles. You also suffer from digestive troubles, inflammation, acidity, bloating, skin issues and even water retention issues.

That is why moderate salt is suggested to avoid imbalances of the doshas and control health issues. Patanjali also works in the Ayurvedic method.

Benefits of the Right Salt Consumption

Constipation: Due to its fire and water elements, it is warming and works to balance Vata Dosha. It also holds water and thus acts as a laxative. Vata Dosha leads to internal and external dryness and constipation. Salt, oils and fibre work well for the bowel. Patanjali Kala Namak (Black Salt) (100 Gms, 200 Gms and 1 Kg) has the right amount of sodium and a tiny amount of sulphur for healthy eating.

Appetite: If you are someone with little appetite and indigestion, the right amount of salt works well since it increases the digestive fires and aids in good appetite and digestion.

Muscle: At times, you suffer from muscle cramps due to imbalanced salt and electrolytes. Your nerves and muscles develop with the help of electrolytes. Potassium, in particular, can cause muscle cramps. Rock Salt or Sendha Namak has electrolytes to help. Or choose Patanjali Sendha Namak (Rock Salt) (100 Gms, 200 Gms and 1 Kg). This raw form of salt contains potassium, iron, calcium, zinc, magnesium, copper, etc. It is perfect for health.

Health: Rock Salt in water will be absorbed better in the body and hydrate to refill the electrolytes. Rock Salt also helps manage blood pressure due to the presence of less sodium than regular salt.

Remember the data and have the right quantity of salt for health, as per Ayurveda and Patanjali.
