About Ganga Dussehra

Ganga Dussehra is observed on the tenth day (Dashami) of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) during the Hindu month of Jyeshtha. This usually falls in the month of May or June. It is believed that bathing in the Ganga during Ganga Dussehra cleanses their sins and brings spiritual peace. During the bath, specific prayers and rituals are carried out. Ganga aarti is held on this revered day at numerous ghats along the Gangas, particularly Varanasi, Haridwar, and Prayagraj, Babu Ghat and more.
