In the wake of the heart-wrenching April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 innocent lives, India has responded with decisive military action. On midnight of May 7, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, a series of precision strikes targeting nine terror launch pads and camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

The attacks targeted known safe havens of terror groups responsible for cross-border infiltration and attacks on civilians, including the one in Pahalgam. According to intelligence sources, high-value targets were neutralised, and multiple facilities used for training and arming militants were destroyed. As per reports, These strikes were conducted using a combination of long-range artillery, drones, and guided munitions, with the Indian Air Force and Army working in coordination.

Despite the recent tragedy, the resilience of both the Indian security forces and the public remains unshaken. Tourists currently visiting Pahalgam have expressed deep gratitude and support for the Indian Army.

“We are visiting Pahalgam fearlessly as the Indian Army is with us,” said one tourist, standing near the Lidder River, surrounded by the valley’s spring bloom. “Another operation should be carried out to finish them (terrorists). We feel safe because we know the Army is watching over us.”

A tourist from Mumbai, visibly emotional, said, “I salute those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack, but I have faith in the Indian armed forces. I know that whatever they need to do, they will do it. Those who are running the country, I have full faith in them.”

Security across Jammu and Kashmir has been ramped up following the strikes, with increased patrols and aerial surveillance. While officials have not released an official death toll from Operation Sindoor, defense analysts believe it has sent a strong message of deterrence.

As tourists continue to return to the valley, defying fear, their presence is being seen as a symbol of national unity and a stand against terror.
