Coloured Claws: Trending the Nail

Nail Art Trend has always been evolving into something more interesting. Sapna Sarfare finds out the latest in nail art trend for gorgeous you.

It’s a painstaking work to look utterly gorgeous. You just cannot afford to go wrong on any detail. And one detail which needs working would be your delicate nails. Most just are plain ignorant about making nails beautiful. Nail art is one which attracts the maximum attention. Nail art, these days, has gone beyond putting plain ‘ole nail polish.

Shimrciyo Khamrang, a nail art expert from MyGlamm, has seen nail experts & artists create beautiful & unique trends which are competitive and say a lot of their passion. “This modern art has come a long way right from beauty stores selling DIY kits to runway shows and red carpets. Customized nail studios have been launched by brands, making it a whole industry of its own says it all!”

On the other hand, Payal Lalwani & Richa Arora, who take care of Jean Claude Biguine Nails, point out, “Today, nail art is not just a process of decorating one’s nails with different nail paints or ornaments or creating amazing & attractive patterns. But it has added to the beauty of one’s personality and self expression.”

Khamrang feels inspiration can be got from anything & everything when it comes to art. “But the flip side is that it all depends from a person to person’s lifestyle to actually bring out a design that could enhance their style & personality.”

Nail art, as a trend, has grown by leaps and bounds and newer trends hit the market before you can say ‘Holy Johnny Boy’. Say Payal & Richa, “Age, body type, skin tone… none of it counts when it comes to the nails. This season, we saw women experimenting with wider array than ever. Nails are being done from simple subtle nudes to over-the-top bedazzled and chained tip.”

Now, one can not only know about them but also learn how to DIY for great nails to show off.

Khamrang suggests, “It works best in summers or for ice cream lovers. The melted ice cream droppings and sundaes with colourful sprinklers are in trend now.”

According to Payal & Richa, this is French manicure uses dark color at the base with lighter shade at the tip.

“Marbling is a beautiful way to update your nails. It’s not the quickest or tidiest, but it’s certainly fun and creative,” Khamrang adds.

Suitable for all and easy, you can paint your nails with either a base coat or a colour. When it is slightly dry, you can press the marble sheet onto your nail. Then seal with top coat and let dry.

It’s a slightly different trend than marble but more edgy. Khamrang says, “For different & eye popping looks, the tie-dye nail art is loved by most. It does require some patience but the outcome is well worth it.”

Payal & Richa reveal, “In this, two color polishes like white & red are used and it happens to be an internationally admired trend.”

Payal & Richa reveal that this trend has wispy stripes, film strip tips & striped and is created with 2-3 different nail colors.

Khamrang reveals, “Pop Art has recently become a huge trend with fashion designers and stylists using the comic book characters and designs everywhere. The same trend has picked up on nails too. This suits very well for college goers, bloggers and women who believe in being funky and up to date and the same time.”

Though losing popularity, gradient or ombre nails is for those who want a simple yet classy style. According to Payal & Richa, it has been inspired by hair color technique and starts with a lighter shade from the cuticle to end with a dark shade at the tip.

Khamrang says, “It’s my personal favourite and is for those who believe in minimalism style. Plain nail colour coats with a small neutral, black or white dot or any geometrical figure completes this look.”

Khamrang reveals, “Initially, oil slick hair was for brunettes to make their hair look like rainbow. These days, holographic trend is heading over to give you a gothic or a rock chic girl look.”

Popular & fabulous looking, this involves applying various artistic designs on nails, including fingernails, thumbnails & toenails.

Payal & Richa suggest the use of dark or light shade of polish at the base and then becoming creative with petal designs, fish tail designs, etc

One of the hottest trends this year, you can make simple manicures into glittery, jeweled and bold embellished nails. Trends like stones, sequins, stick-on, French manicures with multiple colours and very sparkly embellishments have also been included by designers.

“Lighter shades can be used at the base and then coat with glitter & ornate it with rock stones to make it sparkly,” reveal Payal & Richa.
