Ashley Surcombe, a 29-year-old content creator from Evesham, Worcestershire, was discovered unconscious in her Seoul apartment on March 24th under mysterious circumstances. The British influencer, who had been living in South Korea for five years, was severely dehydrated and suffering from multiple organ failure when police forced entry into her home.

The alarm was raised by Ashley’s parents, Nigel and Karen Surcombe, after she suddenly stopped responding to their messages. Concerned for her safety, they sought help through a family friend with contacts in South Korea, leading authorities to check on her.

Rushed to intensive care

Upon being found, Ashley was immediately taken to a hospital, where she remains in intensive care. Her father, Nigel, has flown to Seoul to be by her side. Doctors are currently working to assess the full extent of her condition, but reports indicate that her blood sugar levels were dangerously low.

Her sister, Kat Surcombe, described the family's distress, saying, "We don’t know exactly what happened, and it has been difficult to get clear answers." She also recalled a concerning phone call with Ashley just two days before she was found, during which Ashley appeared disoriented and showed visible signs of severe dehydration.

Fundraising efforts to cover medical bills

With Ashley’s health insurance having recently expired, her family is now facing overwhelming medical costs. Kat has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover her sister’s treatment expenses, which are reportedly around £1,500 per day.

The fundraiser highlights the urgent need for financial support, stating, "My parents have already paid a £3,000 deposit for her care, but the costs continue to rise." Thousands more are needed for essential tests, scans, and medications.

Ashley had built a significant following online, amassing over a million followers across social media platforms. Fluent in Korean, she had been planning to travel across Southeast Asia and document her experiences.

Authorities in Seoul have confirmed that there were no signs of forced entry into Ashley’s apartment, adding to the mystery surrounding her condition. The family remains desperate for answers as they navigate this heartbreaking ordeal.

Kat also shared her concerns about how their parents are coping with the situation, calling the entire experience a terrible shock. The family continues to hope for Ashley’s recovery while seeking support to bring her home safely.
