NCP leader Nawab Malik on Tuesday filed a bail application before a special court in a money laundering case concerning a land in Kurla. This is Malik’s first bail application on the merits of the case and was filed through advocate Kushal Mor. The earlier bail plea was seeking temporary bail of six weeks sought for medical reasons. The court has fixed the matter for the response of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 15.

The ED had arrested him in the case in Feb this year and alleged that he had helped fund underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s terror network through his illegal transaction. It alleged that he usurped the three-acre plot of one Munira Plumber worth Rs. 300 crores for just Rs. 55 lakhs. He did this in connivance with D-gang members and alleged it is ‘proceeds of crime’ under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
