Independent legislator couple MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana on Tuesday secured pre-arrest bail from a sessions court in an offence registered against him by Khar police station for obstructing public servants from discharging duty.

The offence had come to be registered in connection with their threatening to read the Hanuman Chalisa in front of the then CM Uddhav Thackeray’s residence Matoshree. They had been booked under provisions of the IPC 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servants from performing duty) and Sec 34 (common intention). In another FIR that had been lodged against him by the Khar police, they had been charged with sedition and arrested. They had then secured bail from a special court.
