Mumbai: The Social Service Branch of Mumbai police carried out raid in Andheri’s Night Lover Bar and rescued 12 bar girls and at least 13 people were booked on late Monday night under new law that protects the dignity and safety of women in hotels, restaurants, bar rooms and other establishments. The officials have also seized Rs 54,900 in cash, and a music system from the spot.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law. Meanwhile, at least 13 people have been booked under Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products (COTP) Act after SSB officials carried out raid at Borivali-based Vibes Hukka Parlour from where they have also seized Rs 2,420 and 10 hukka pots and other related stuffs.
Whereas, three girls were rescued after SSB officials conducted raid under Immoral Traffic Prevention Act (ITPA) at Goregaon’s Oberoi mall from where one male pimp has been arrested and one female pimp was allowed to go u/s 46 (4) CrPC with instruction to report at Dindoshi police station. Sources said one more pimp is wanted in the case. The SSB officials have also seized Rs. 5,240 cash, two mobile phones worth Rs 7,000.
