The recognition was presented by the cultural organisation Janapada Kala Mattu Kreeda Sangha during a public event attended by local media professionals and community representatives.
The award, which had been announced earlier, was officially handed over in a gathering that highlighted the importance of grassroots journalism. The organisation noted the platform’s consistent coverage of civic, rural, and cultural issues across Karnataka, particularly in districts often overlooked by mainstream outlets.
Founded in 2019, Kannada News Today has built its identity around people-first reporting, focusing on stories from smaller towns and regional communities. The editorial team has worked on public-interest topics ranging from infrastructure gaps to local heritage preservation.
Satish Raj Goravigere, who received the honour on behalf of the team, has previously been recognised with the Rajyotsava Journalism Honour (2023) and the Outstanding Media Contribution of the Year Award (2024) for his individual work in regional media.
