PM to felicitate veterans in Vigyan Bhawan, party to hold events in every state capital; move aimed at earning
dividends in Bihar by embarrassing Nitish, Lalu

New Delhi : It would be a busy Sunday for the BJP leadership as the party and the Central govt plan to commemorate Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan”s 113th birth anniversary in a never before manner. The timing of the observation suits the BJP perfectly which is fighting a tough battle in Bihar by giving the party an opportunity to embarrass the Lalu-Nitish-Congress combine.

BJP top leaders have already been slamming Nitish Kumar, a soldier of the JP brigade, ever since he teamed up with the Congress. Party leaders are looking at good political dividends by claiming the ”true” legacy of JP while targeting Nitish for joining hands with the party which had imposed Emergency and rained lathis on JP.

The highlight of the day would be a mega event in the national capital to be held at Vigyan Bhawan where Prime Minister Narendra Modi would felicitate soldiers of democracy who fought for their rights during the dark Emergency days.

The other high-profile event would be held by the party in Sitabdiara, the birthplace of Jayaprakash Narayan, where BJP president Amit Shah would lead the party in paying homage to the stalwart.  Elsewhere, BJP state units would hold various programmes like talks, seminars, felicitation of Emergency heroes etc in respective state capitals.

Discussing the party’s plans, senior minister M Venkaiah Naidu said ”Emergency was a black day in Indian democracy.
