Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A massive fire broke out in Indore’s cloth market on Thursday morning, destroying around 15 shops and causing a panic in the area.

According to information, the fire erupted in the market around 5:30 am today. A security guard was the first one to witness the smoke coming out from the shops.

The fire brigade was informed around 6:30 am after which the team rushed to the spot. It took four hours and intense efforts by firefighters to put out the blaze, which was finally brought under control by 9 am.

Although the exact source of the fire is still unknown, preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit might be the cause.

Loss of Rs 5-7 crore estimated

The fire burnt 15 shops down to ashes, resulting in an estimated loss of ₹5-7 crore.

Some of the affected shops include Sonam Collection, Dilip Matching, Lotus Fashion, Nursing’s Shop, Deep Textiles, Pooja Shri, Raj Shri Fabric, and Kuiya Tailor.

The fire has now been brought under control, but authorities are still assessing the exact damage and investigating the cause of the fire.
