Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): On the first day of a five-day workshop-cum-demonstration series jointly organised by SPIC MACAY and IOCL, New Delhi based Kathak artiste Vishwadeep Sharma performed in Government Primary School, Desai Nagar and CM Rise Higher Secondary School Jalseva Niketan, Ghaas Mandi, here on Monday.
Vishwadeep is a senior disciple of Guru Nandini Singh and Prerna Shrimali of Jaipur Gharana. He began invocation of his performance with praises of Lord Shiva through Shiva Stuti, who said to be the Adiguru of dance. The performer would uphold the nuances of Shiva starting from his ash smeared body, to his pale poisoned neck, to his blazing trinayana and finally to the dense strands of hair.
In the next part, Vishwadeep portrayed ìKrishnaî as a liberator. The one who freed people from pollution caused by Kaliyanaag (snake). Krishna restores nature back to its magnificence: withered flowers bloom, peacocks dance in abandon and birds start chirping. The abuse of environment is an age- old phenomenon. We look for a saviour who will free us off our own misdoings, but perhaps the saviour is amongst us, like Krishna who also was a cowherd himself.
Vishwadeep taught few hasta mudras and importance of taal laya to the†students. Children and teachers of both schools were enthralled with the scintillating and mesmerising performance. Vishwadeep concluded his performance with Thumri depicting the ëchhed-chhadí of Krishna and Radha. SPIC MACAY convenor Pankaj Agrawal informed that on Tuesday Vishwadeep will perform†in Government High School village Naugao at 11.45 am and at 1.15 pm in Government Middle†School village Karchali, Dewas Road.
