Madhya Pradesh: Ujjain Schools To Operate From 7 AM To 12 PM As Temperature Soars To 42°C |

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): With the onset of intense summer heat, the Ujjain district administration has revised school timings to protect children from rising temperatures. From now on, all government and private schools—affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, MP Board, and other education boards—will operate from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, effective immediately.

The decision came after the city recorded 42°C on Monday, marking the hottest day of the season so far. The minimum night temperature was also relatively high at 21°C. Ujjain was among the top five hottest cities in the state on Monday. The order was issued by Ujjain Collector considering the health and safety of students amid the heatwave.

Heat wave warnings across MP

Across Madhya Pradesh, the mercury surged on Monday. Narmadapuram recorded the highest temperature at 44.3°C, followed by Ratlam at 44°C. Other major cities also crossed the 40-degree mark. Bhopal recorded 41.6°C, Indore 40.6°C, Gwalior 41.7°C, and Jabalpur 40.7°C.

This is the first time this season that all five major cities—Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, and Jabalpur—saw day temperatures rise above 40°C, signaling the arrival of peak summer conditions in the state. Authorities have urged people to stay hydrated and avoid stepping out during peak hours.
