Bhopal/Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Ujjain police seized and destroyed 105 high-decibel silencers and hooters using a road roller at Tower Chowk on Thursday. Additional SP Nitesh Bhargav personally operated the roller, crushing the illegal silencers to curb public nuisance.

During a special drive, police confiscated silencers from premium motorcycles that produced loud, gunshot-like sounds, disturbing commuters. These silencers, priced between ₹15,000 and ₹80,000, amounted to a total of ₹12 lakh.

According to information, ASP Bhargav stated that these silencers were seized from reckless bikers over the past three months. The police had issued ₹1,000 challans to violators and replaced their modified silencers with standard ones at police stations.

Bikers in Ujjain had been modifying their motorcycles to produce loud noises, creating chaos on city roads. The police warned that similar actions would continue to maintain peace and discipline in the city.

Previous Crackdowns

Previously, in Bhopal and Indore, PHQ directed police commissioners and district SPs to launch a crackdown on vehicles violating norms by using unauthorised hooters, flashing lights, VIP stickers, and incorrect number plates. The directive follows routine checks where such violations were detected. Former CM Digvijaya Singh also wrote to the DGP, demanding strict action against these illegal modifications.
