Ujjain: Man drowns in Kshipra, friend rescued

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): A man living in Basant Vihar Colony went with a friend late on Monday to see the summit of Mahakaleshwar temple. From there he went to take a bath at Ramghat. He took such a dive in the river at Ramghat that his body was brought out by the people. His friend was also drowning but was saved by the people. The Mahakal police conducted the post-mortem of the body after registering a report.

Deceased Nitin (38) son of Madhav Chowgule, resident of Basant Vihar Colony, used to work in the field of property brokerage. Late at around 12 o’clock in the night, he went to see the summit of Mahakaleshwar temple with his friend Shashank son of Sudhir Panwar resident Arpita Colony. After darshan, due to the new moon, he went to Ramghat to take a bath in the river.

Shashank said that Nitin was a good swimmer, so he dived into the river from the ghat but did not come out. Shashank himself also started drowning and was saved by the people. The relatives said that the deceased’s father Madhav Chougule has retired from MPEB. His mother died of a heart attack during the Corona period. Father and son lived alone in the house. Nitin was a sportsman and knew swimming well.
