Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): A case was registered in women’s police station against Piyush Bhargava, in-charge executive engineer (EE) posted on contract in Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC), who is known for his influence.
The police, which was avoiding registering the case till two days ago, had to register the case immediately because CM Mohan Yadav, who reached Ujjain on Wednesday, called it a matter of women’s dignity and asked to take immediate action.
After this, the way for registering the case became clear. A case was registered against Bhargava under Sections 75 (1) I, 75 (1) IV and 78 (1) I, II of BNS.
After registering the case under serious provisions, Bhargava is now facing threat of dismissal along with arrest. Bhargava, who is in the headlines has been accused by a female sub-engineer of UMC of having indecent conversations, calling her home on the pretext of a meeting and pressuring her for physical relationship.
The case is being investigated at two levels. The first investigation is being conducted by UMC’s Vishakha Committee under the leadership of deputy-commissioner Kritika Bhimavad, while the second is being conducted by women police at their own level.
SP Pradeep Sharma said that the investigation of the case underway. If the statements and call records of both the parties are proved to be correct, arrests will also be made, he said. The Vishakha Committee has recorded statements of two sub-engineers working in UMC, Mukul Meshram and Manoj Rajwani.
Commissioner Ashish Pathak Bhargava was also summoned on the same evening. ‘We are waiting for the Vishakha Committee report. On the basis of this, a proposal will be made and given to the MiC to terminate the contractual appointment of Bhargava,’ Pathak said.
