Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A minor dispute over honking escalated into a violent clash between two groups in Chhatripura area on Sunday afternoon, prompting police to deploy a heavy force to prevent further tension.

The incident occurred during a religious event which left two people injured by stabbing. The situation became more sensitive as it occurred while DGP Kailash Makwana was in the city holding a meeting with senior police officers. Additional DCP (zone-4) Anand Yadav left the meeting after getting information about the incident.

According to police, the incident occurred when two youths, identified as Abhishek and Rajesh from Balda Colony, arrived at Ravidaspura during a religious programme on a motorcycle and repeatedly honked their horn.

Women participating in the bhajan and dance event asked them to stop, which led to an argument. The duo allegedly abused people standing there and left. Later, they returned with two others—Tushar and Harsh—and attacked the group with sharp objects.

Manthan and Sangram sustained injuries in the attack. Based on their complaint, police registered a case of attempted murder against the four accused, who were subsequently arrested.

The event was part of the Mataji Sthapana celebration, during which a community feast (bhandara) was being organised.
