Indore : Initiating stern action against traffic rule violators, RTO on Wednesday suspended as many as 52 driving licences of those who violated the Motor Vehicle Act and Traffic Rules.
RTO suspended the licences on the recommendations of traffic police for rash driving and driving after consuming liquor.
The RTO also dashed off a letter to the RTOs of Ujjain, Dewas and other nearby districts recommending suspension of 28 driving licences as the commuters were fined in the city.
“We have received a list of 80 licences, of which 52 are from the city, from the traffic police. We have sent the notices to the violators and suspended the licences on Wednesday,” RTO Jitendra Raghuvanshi said.
He further said that the licences will be suspended for three months and it will be surrendered by the vehicle owners.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Anjana Tiwari said that they send a list of the violators of Motor Vehicle Act and Traffic Rules in the interval of three months.
“It is a quick response by the RTO and such actions will give a message to violators and will help to prevent accidents in the city,” she said.
The ASP further said that the violation include, driving after consuming liquor and talking on mobile phone while driving.
It is to be noted that a 10-year-old boy, who was crossing the road with his mother, had lost his life due to the negligence of a car driver in Rajendra Nagar area. The car driver hit the boy and dragged him for more than 40 fts due to which he died on the spot.
