Indore : House of a scientist among others and a temple in Shivampuri area were targeted by thieves on Sunday night. The miscreants decamped with goods worth lakhs.
The accused dared to enter the temple and houses where more than 20 CCTV cameras are installed and were also caught in the CCTV recordings.
According to Bhawarkuan police, the incidents took place near Siddheshwari mata temple in Shivampuri area. “The accused decamped with booty of more than Rs 15000 from the temple including silver ‘Chhatra’ and two donation boxes. Later they dumped empty donation boxes near the temple. The accused also stole a bike from a nearby residence and booty of lakhs from Patidar’s house,” the police said.
The accused also broke into house of a scientist, who has gone to the USA for training. “Thieves struck at the residence of a scientist of Soyabean Research, Dr Ramesh VS, located in high security Soyabean Research Colony. The incident was reported to the police by the neighbour of the scientist,” a police official at Bhawarkuan police station said.
Residents of Shivampuri said that they had installed the CCTV camera in the temple a few hours before the incident but the accused broke one of the cameras.
“Three accused can easily be seen in the CCTV camera recordings. We have provided the recordings to the police and demanded immediate arrest of the accused,” they said.
On the other hand, neighbour of scientist Shiv Kumar said that Ramesh’s family had gone to the USA for a year’s training. “The incident was discovered by the maid of his house after which we immediately informed the police. What have been stolen would be calculated after the return of the family,” Shiv Kumar added. The police registered a case against the accused and started an investigation.
