Indore : City proudly welcomes its Heroes –Gyanendra and Monica Purohit. Both were felicitated by Amitabh Bachchan on `Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi’ Every story has a hero and for STAR Plus’ show ‘Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi’ – the heroes are people who may seem ordinary but who have done the extraordinary! With little or no means of support, our heroes are champions of social change who have the power to inspire the entire nation and recently two such ‘Heroes’ of Indore city were welcomed home with open arms as they shared their inspiring story.
The Purohits have a strong singular strive – to become the voice of the deaf and mute. They established Indore’s first of its kind police station that is dedicated to deaf and mute cases – Mukh Badhir Police Kendra and to take this cause even further, they trained one person in each of MP’s 51 districts to be a liason between mute people and the police, thereby helping law enforcement. Taking care of a facility that houses children who are deaf and mute and caters to their special needs, Monica Purohit says, “It’s important to understand that these children may be differently abled but they too have dreams and aspirations. We have dubbed 4 films in sign language – Sholay, Taare Zameen Par, Munnabhai MBBS and Gandhi as we believe that entertainment also has its own importance.
“Speaking about their vision for the future Gyanendra Purohit shared, “We wish to establish a proper Rehabilitation Centre for the special cases that come to us through our police station and representatives throughout MP.
“Hosted by Amitabh Bachchan ‘Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi’ is a show that celebrates the good deeds done by ordinary people.
