Indore: In Italy, every child goes through ECG test before being admitted to the school. Same is in the US where one cannot participate in sports without getting ECG report. Well known cardiologist and Padma Shri Dr Balbir Singh stated this while interacting with mediapersons at CHL Hospital on Saturday. “This should start in our country too to diagnose heart ailments early and save people from sudden cardiac arrest. There is no age of getting ECG done,” he said.

Speaking further, he said everyone should undergo ECG once. “It is important to take immediate steps to decrease death graph due to cardiac arrest, which is most common reason of death worldwide,” he remarked. Talking about number of heart patients in our country, he said, “The number is in crores but the worst part is that it is shifting towards younger population.” Dr Singh said symptoms of heart disease can be seen in only those who are active.
