Jhabua: The situation of water crisis is deepening in the residential area of Jhabua. While the denizens are worried about the shortage of water, the water levels in the Anas river are declining continuously. The PHE department on the other hand is providing water every eight days to the residential colonies of the area, because of which the residents are facing a tough time without water. The water level of the river is constantly coming down at the stop dam. A lot of time is left for the rains as of now, and in case water of the river dries up, the water crisis could turn even worse.
Handpumps and well too have dried up: The handpumps and the well have dried up in the region. Either most of these handpumps are not working, or have dried up. There are some wells from which the public quenches its thirst, but the municipality is not giving any emphasis on repairs of these handpumps.
Water of the ponds is not suitable for drinking: There are three ponds—Bada Talab, Chhota Talab and Mehta Ji Talab, but the residents are unable to use the water for drinking purposes. The municipality is not giving due attention to cleansing of the pond.
