Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Indore Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) allegedly died by suicide at his government bungalow under the Palasia police station limits on Friday afternoon. Additional commissioner of police Amit Singh said Mahendra Singh Solanki, an Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer posted in Indore as DFO, died by suicide at his government bungalow near Navratan Bagh. The police found two mobile phones and several departmental documents from his room, which were sent for forensic examination.

Solanki had told his caretakers that he was feeling unwell and asked his driver to take him to hospital at 3 pm. When the caretakers went to his room, he did not respond. Later, they broke open the door and found him hanging around 4:30 pm. DCP Hansraj Singh said family dispute could be the reason behind the suicide. However, the exact reason behind his extreme decision could not be ascertained as no suicide note was found at the spot.

Did not attend review meeting citing health issue

Additional CP Amit Singh further said that Solanki did not attend the departmental review meeting citing health issues. He was also not attending phone calls from 12:30 pm and had multiple dropped video calls on his mobile phone.
