Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): A woman lost her newborn after she was allegedly denied treatment twice at a health center in Ratlam on Saturday.
The health care center was from Ratlam's Sailana town.
She was later forced to travel to the hospital on a hand-cart; unfortunately the baby did not survive.
According to information, the woman's husband, Krishna Gwala, had taken her to the community health center on the morning of March 23, but a nurse told them that the delivery would take place in two to three days and sent them home.
Later that night, when she experienced labour pains again, they rushed to the hospital a second time. However, another nurse examined her and refused admission, saying she still had 15 more hours before delivery.
With no other option, the couple returned home. But as the woman's condition worsened, her husband had to take her to the hospital on a hand-cart.
Sadly, she gave birth on the way, and the baby did not survive.
Following the incident, Krishna Gwala blamed the hospital staff for his child’s death and demanded strict action against them.
The local administration has launched an inquiry into the matter.
According to district health officer Dr. M.S. Sagar, an investigation found negligence by the medical staff.
As a consequence, nurse Chetna Charel has been suspended, while the contract of nurse Gayatri Patidar has been terminated.
Additionally, a senior medical officer has received a show-cause notice, and officials have reported the on-duty doctor’s actions to higher authorities.
The district collector has stated that appropriate action will be taken once the inquiry report is completed.
