Sardarpur: Gynecologists arrested for taking bribe on 'Doctors' Day'

Sardarpur (Madhya Pradesh): The Indore Lokayukta team on Friday trapped one gynecologist and obstetrician posted in Sardarpur tehsil of Dhar district accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 from the complainant on the occasion of World Doctors’ Day.

As per detailed information, Dr Sangeeta Patidar, posted at Community Health Centre, Sardarpur initially demanded Rs 10,000 for performing a delivery operation from the patient’s kin identified as Mahesh Damor, a native of Bimrod Village of Sardarpur Tehsil.

The patient delivered a healthy baby on June 27 and later the doctor again started demanding a bribe and settled for a total of Rs 8,000. Damor had paid Rs 2,000 in advance to the doctor and assured him to give the rest amount on July 1.

Mahesh Damor had filed a complaint with the Lokayukta, Indore that Patidar had demanded a bribe of Rs 6,000 to operate on kin for cesarean delivery. The surgery at the government hospital should not have cost anything to the patient.

Based on a complaint, the Lokayukta team of Indore laid a trap and caught red-handed and arrested Patidar from her residence while she was accepting the remaining amount of Rs 6,000 from the patient’s kin. Ironically the incident happened on “World Doctor’s Day” on July 1.

Later, a case was registered against the accused doctor while further investigation into the case is underway. During the raid, police inspector Asha Sejkar, Vikram Singh Chauhan, sub-inspector Dali Giri, principal constable Pramod Yadav, Anil Parmar and other police officials were also present.

Lokayukta Police Inspector Asha Sejkar said that doctor, posted in the community health center was allegedly caught on Friday while accepting a bribe to perform a surgery. CMHO Virendra Singh Raghuwanshi also tried to contact in this regard but went in vain.
