Indore: In a trap laid by the Lok Ayukta police, a woman head constable was caught accepting an amount of Rs 1500 from a man as bribe, on Wednesday. According to the sleuths, Mahila Thana head constable Lalita Tiwari had demanded bribe to organise a counselling between a man and his wife who left him after a family feud.

A resident of Palda, Rakesh Solanki had filed an application with Mahila Thana stating that he and his wife had a quarrel after which she went to her parents’ house.Solanki tried to bury the hatchet many a time but his wife did not agree to have a word with him.

Seeking Mahila Thana’s help, Rakesh requested for a counseling session between him and his wife under the supervision of a woman cop.For the assistance, Lalita Tiwari allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2000.To this, Rakesh lodged a complaint with the Lok Ayukta police, who laid a trap to nab Tiwari.

Rakesh arranged Rs 1500 to pay as bribe and reached the Mahila Thana. He handed over the amount to Tiwari who kept the amount in her purse. Immediately, the Lok Ayukta sleuths, roaming on the thana campus in plain clothes went inside and caught Tiwari. The bribe amount was seized from her pursue. The head constable was booked under relevant Sections of Prevention for Corruption Act.
