Indore : Police have arrested two persons from Ahmedabad in connection with loot of Rs 7 lakh in July 2014 and managed to recover whole amount from them.
According to Rakesh Gupta, DIG, Indore range, on July 5, 2014 complainant Praveen Seth son of Somchandra Seth of Tilak Nagar Extension withdrew Rs 7 lakh from Axis Bank and was on his way to Dawa Bazaar.
Seth was riding his Honda Activa scooter and when he neared police control room on RNT Marg, two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched his bag containing the cash and fled the scene. The case was registered by Tukoganj police.
After rummaging through the CCTV footage available with the bank, the police had zeroed in on a person lurking around Seth in the bank and began a search for him. During the search, they received information that the accused hails from Gujarat.
Acting on the tip-off, the police teams reached Dahod, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Surat etc to search the police records for the said person. The breakthrough came when Ahemadabad police said that the man in question was residing in Kuber Nagar of the city.
The Crime branch personnel of Indore and Ahmedabad police raided the house in question and detained Rupesh (23) son of Dheer Singh Machrekar and later based on information provided by him detained Mukesh (23) son of Laliya Indrekar.
During questioning, the duo broke down and admitted to the loot and later led the police team to hidden cash of Rs 7 lakh. The accused have been brought to the city for further action.
