One Killed, 12 Injured As Vehicle Turns Turtle In MP's Khargone

Khargone (Madhya Pradesh): One sanitation worker died on the spot while 12 other sanitation workers sustained injuries as the vehicle carrying around 20 sanitation workers turned turtle near Gokul Avenue Temla Road on Monday.

As per reports, the sanitation staff of municipality met with an accident while they were going to clean Srimad Bhagwat Katha venue where Katha was to be held in upcoming days in Temla village.  

A temporary sanitation worker Rajesh Solanki (30) died on the spot. While 12 other sanitation workers, including women, sustained injuries. They were admitted to the district hospital with help of nearby people.

Upon receiving information, CMO MR Nigwal and civic body president Chhaya Joshi reached the district hospital and inquired about the condition of the injured and their treatment.

Officials of State Safai Karamchari Sangh and other organisations reached the hospital, met with the injured and sought information about the incident. Sangh’s state president Vikas Fatrod questioned with whose orders the sanitation workers were sent for work outside the urban limits.

Sangathan and family members of the deceased staged a protest by keeping the body of Rajesh at collector’s office for about two hours. They also submitted a memorandum to SDM BS Kalesh regarding their demands.

Their demands include compensation amount of Rs 1 crore to deceased’s family members along with a compensation of Rs 50 lakhs to each injured in the accident.

Organisation’s vice president Manish Jediye and district president Rajat Karosia alleged that despite death of one sanitation worker and 12 injured people, no responsible public representative visited the hospital.

Moreover, Sangh member Sanjay Karosia said that about 20 sanitation workers, more than the capacity of the vehicle, were being taken to clean the Bhagwat Katha venue to be held in Temla village of MLA Balkrishna Patidar.

Congress district president Ravi Naik also reached the district hospital and met with injured. Talking to media persons, Naik demanded compensation of Rs 1 crore for the deceased’s family, a government job for deceased’s family member and 10 lakh rupees to the injured from the government.

He also demanded a thorough investigation to reveal on whose orders the sanitation workers were sent outside the town’s limits. Additionally, Naik demanded action against the CMO and registration of FIR.
