Indore : Afraid of losing more seats and fund due to lack of infrastructure, MGM Medical College administration did not apply for increasing seats for post graduate courses in session 2015- 16.

Even the college administration has not applied for any new PG course, this year.

“ es, we didn’t apply for any increase in seats for the running PG courses and not even applied for any new course for the session 2015- 16,” a senior professor of MGM Medical College said.

He further said, “ We are planning to develop infrastructure before applying for new/ more seats. We already have many PG courses which are available only in our college in the state. Now, claiming for new seats with full preparations is better than wasting the funds and seats without preparations.” It is to be noted that the MGM Medical College had applied for various new seats for starting PG courses in session 2014- 15 but they received a severe jolt when MCI rejected their application after the inspection.

College sources claimed that the MCI peer team had expressed their displeasure over the infrastructure and lack of head count due to which application for new courses was rejected.

Besides, the college administration couldn’t retain their 150 UG seats as the MCI withdrew permission for 10 seats for the session 2014- 15. However, it was claimed that the college administration didn’t complete the documentation properly due to which the seats were cancelled. However, they managed to get the seats back after the orders from the Supreme Court.

“ Construction of new departments is running and the work will be completed by next session and the college administration will apply for increasing seats for the session 2016- 2017,” sources added.
