Indore : Riding on the success of two small-scale computer-based tests held in last seven days, the Madhya Pradesh Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) faces a real challenge next month when engineering service preliminary exam would be conducted.
“Nearly 26000 candidates will take engineering service preliminary exam to be held on November 7 and 8,” said MPPSC secretary Manohar Dubey accepting that it would be a challenge to hold computer-based exam for such a large number of students.
He, however, said that the technology available with their software partner is capable enough to deal with even bigger examination.
“We have no doubt that engineering service exam in computer-based mode will also be a success like that of assistant agriculture engineer and mining officer exams held lately,” Dubey said.
Assistant agriculture exam which was the first computer-based exam conducted by the MPPSC had only 203 candidates. The mining officer exams which were held in a two-day window also see a handful of candidates, to be precise 327 on Wednesday and 325 on Thursday.
Since the candidates were less in the numbers, the MPPSC had organised both the exams in well-equipped centres of Indore. These exams were not conducted at any other part of the state. But for engineering services exam, the MPPSC had to setup centres across the state.
“We will press government officers and teachers of colleges in the duty for hassle free exams,” Dubey said. It is to be noted that the MPPSC had announced to hold all its exams in online mode except for state civil service exams. Assistant professor exam would be the biggest one in computer-based mode followed by engineering services exam.
