Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): Under operation Prahar, Dhar police arrested three accused involved in manufacturing of illegal firearms and seized 15 illegal 12-bore country-made pistols, six incomplete pistols, two live cartridges and two magazines on Friday.
Police arrested notorious illegal fire arms manufacturer and smuggler Rahul Punjabi (Sikligar) along with two other accused identified as Jagat Singh (32), and Ajay Singh (20), from old ruins near the drain behind Gurudwara of Bakaner Chowki.

During the action, the team seized 15 illegal 12-bore country-made pistols, six incomplete pistols, two live cartridges, two magazines, factory equipment used in illegal firearms manufacturing worth Rs 1.62L from their possession.
Among the arrested accused, Rahul Sikligar (31), already has three cases of illegal firearms registered against him at Manawar police station of the district. As per information, Bakaner outpost in-charge Ashwin Chauhan of Manawar police station received intelligence of manufacturing of illegal firearms by accused Rahul Punjabi and his associates in Bakaner village on Thursday.
Under the guidance of Manawar police station in-charge inspector Ishwar Singh Chauhan, the team cordoned off the spot and arrested the three accused red-handed. A case was registered under sections 25, 27, 25(1-AA) of Arms Act and 111(2), (b), 111(3) of BNS against all accused and the matter was taken up for investigation.
While addressing journalists during the press conference, SP Manoj Kumar Singh said that efforts were made to bring the smugglers involved in illegal arms smuggling into the mainstream however they did not get more than Rs 10-15k as salary which reinforced them to involve into illegal weapons.
He said that an action plan will be taken at the government-level so that they can stop indulging into illegal practices. DGP Kailash Makwana and IGP, Indore (Rural) zone Indore Anurag and DIG Indore (Rural) Nimish Agrawal praised the work of the team and announced reward for the team.
