Indore: Keeping in view of the ever expansion of the city and its needs Mayor Krishna Murari Moghe on Saturday met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and demanded to reduce the protected periphery of Ralamandal sanctuary from 10 km diameter to 100 metre diameter.
The ministry of environment and forest had declared the periphery of 10 km diameter of the sanctuary as protected. The Chief Minister has assured Moghe take the issue to Central government.

The Mayor said that the ministry of environment and forest keep 10km diameter of area around any sanctuary as protected area under eco-sensitive and eco-fragile zone. As the population of the city is rising constantly, the local residents are facing development problem in the absence of administrative sanctions in the vicinity of Ralamandal sanctuary, Moghe said. He said that if the permission to reduce the periphery from 10km to 100mtr is granted, then people can carry out development works there. Mayor added that for the same purpose, he submitted an application to the CM to which he assured of taking the matter to the Central government.

In a letter addressed to the ministry of environment and forest, Moghe demanded to reduce the periphery of Ralamandal sanctuary to 100mtr from the existing 10 km limit and for the same a no objection order may be issued. Indore is expanding in every sector and so as the need to develop educational, health and industrial centres are also increasing, the Mayor said. Due to these reasons, the residential colonies near the sanctuary are increasing and for the same an amendment in the guideline is required, he added.
