Khandwa : A panic like situation prevailed in Khandwa when unidentified bikers opened fire on two youths of a particular community at 5.30pm, near Scholar Den School in Deen Dayalpuram. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries, while the other is seriously injured.

The incident occurred when victims, Javed and Salim were returning after collecting money from a sub engineer in Kishornagar area, for whom they worked as a contractor on their bike numbered MP 12ME9832 . While Javed succumbed to his injuries, Salim is said to be critical but out of danger.

The bullets have hit the chest of the other youth who is being treated at the district hospital. Superintendent of Police have reached the spot and the town seems to be looming under the shadow of terror since the incident took place.

Patrolling of policemen has increased since the incident took place as the situation around the sensitive areas of the city is tensed.  And the city limits have been sealed to nab the miscreants on the incident. Section 144 has been imposed in the city since the incident took place.

Massive police force has been deputed in sensitive areas of the city such as Imlipura, Khansawali, Kaharwadi . A good number of policemen too are present in the district hospital.

However, the police claim the incident to be a case of enmity and summed up the condition in the city as tensed but under control.

The police of the region ideally should have been alert as the Hindu organisations of the area took out a Maharally protesting attacks on Hindus in wake of recent communal clashes in the region. But that was not to be.
