Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Milk price has been changed from today, with the Madhya Pradesh Dairy Business Association announcing a revised rate of Rs 62 per litre, effective March 1.

An additional service charge will also be applicable. This price is for 6-fat quality milk, ensuring better standards for consumers.

The decision was taken in a meeting at Tilak Path, attended by association leaders, including president Ishwar Joshi, senior vice president Rangalal Paneri and general secretary Dinesh Joshi.

The price hike was attributed to rising costs of cattle feed, fodder and dairy animals, along with water scarcity affecting milk production. To maintain quality, fat-testing machines have been installed at 70% of milk shops, as per district administration guidelines.

The association urged authorities to establish a dedicated milk market (Doodh Mandi) near the Super Corridor, similar to grain and vegetable markets, to reduce traffic congestion and ensure organised milk distribution.

Consumers have been advised to purchase milk only from authorised vendors, avoid stale packaged milk and support local dairy farmers.

The association emphasised that this price revision ensures fair compensation for dairy producers while maintaining milk quality for the city’s residents.
