Mhow (Madhya Pradesh): The forest department on Thursday freed two hectares of land from the encroachers at Chhota Jam under the Mhow range.
Preparations were being made for sowing in the field here, while a hut was also built here. Mhow Ranger Sachin Shankar Verma told that information was received about ploughing of forest land. When a team of the forest department reached the spot on Thursday afternoon they came across a patch of about 2 hectares of forest land that was being levelled and preparations were being made for sowing. Two people who were there said that they had taken the land on lease but were unable to furnish any documents to prove their contention and left the spot. The team demolished the hut with the help of a JCB.
As soon as the rainy season starts the forest department prepares to act against encroachers who try to cultivate forest land during this season.
On Wednesday the department had freed 40 hectares of forest land from similar encroachment in the Choral range.
