Man kills wife for infidelity, surrenders in police station

Indore: Infidelity of a woman leads a man to strangulate her. After the crime, the man handed over his two children to his brother and calmly walked into the police station. The cops were stunned when he told them that body of his wife is lying at his house and asked them to arrest him. Initially the police did not believe him, but found that he was telling the truth when they went to his house.

The dramatic killing occurred in Maharana Pratap Nagar under Banganga Police station and created sensation in the area. Manoj Sisodia, a resident of Maharana Pratap Nagar got married to Hemlata, a resident of Hatpipaliya seven years ago. Manoj was doing a business of fabrication.

Initially the couple led happy married life and had a son whom they named Nikhil. When Nikhil was 10-month-old Hemlata eloped with one Jitendra Thakur, a resident of Kulwad in District Dewas. She returned home after several months, but her parents refused to accept her.

Hemlata begged for forgiveness from her family, husband and his family and the couple began to live together once again. Everything went on smoothly for two-and-half years and during that time the couple had another son, who was named Gaurav.

However, after birth of Gaurav, Hemlata began meeting with Thakur again which led to disputes between the couple. Manoj also informed his in-laws who tried to their best dissuade Hemlata from meeting Thakur, but to no avail. The couple fought over the issue frequently.

On Thursday after a fighting, Manoj told Hemlata to kill him as he was losing respect in society. Not to outdone, Hemlata asked Manoj to kill her as he and her parents have objection to her relationship. She also told Manoj that she had planned on eloping with Thakur once again. Manoj then left his children with his brother, returned home and strangulated Hemlata.

It appears that Manoj’s brother and Hemlata’s brother Sachin were in favour of this honour killing and told him not worry about anything. After Manoj surrendered to police and told them about the killing, initially the police were dumbfounded and did not believe him. However, when they went to Manoj’s house they found that Manoj was indeed telling the truth. The body has been sent for autopsy while Manoj has been booked for murder of his wife, Banganga police station incharge Yogesh Singh Tomar said.
