On Thursday after a fighting, Manoj told Hemlata to kill him as he was losing respect in society. Not to outdone, Hemlata asked Manoj to kill her as he and her parents have objection to her relationship. She also told Manoj that she had planned on eloping with Thakur once again. Manoj then left his children with his brother, returned home and strangulated Hemlata.
It appears that Manoj’s brother and Hemlata’s brother Sachin were in favour of this honour killing and told him not worry about anything. After Manoj surrendered to police and told them about the killing, initially the police were dumbfounded and did not believe him. However, when they went to Manoj’s house they found that Manoj was indeed telling the truth.
